HPV is most prevalent in young adults

HPV infection is most common among young adults between the ages of 18 and 28.

In fact, of the approximately 6 million new cases of genital HPV in the U.S., it is estimated that 74 percent of them occur in 15- to 24-year-olds. Although this statistic includes not only the cancer-causing HPV types, but low-risk HPV types as well, it’s still important for women to realize that genital HPV is common and easily transmitted.
